Summary

We’re an early-stage sustainability startup seeking a skilled and experienced Scrap Metal Trader (Non-Ferrous focus) to join our team full-time. In this role, you’ll play a key part in sourcing and purchasing scrap metal from suppliers across the U.S., focusing on securing the best prices and optimizing our supply chain. We’re looking for someone who can do more than just execute trades—we want to learn from your expertise and leverage your insights to improve our operations and strategy.

You will manage the entire trading process, from sourcing materials to overseeing logistics, both domestically and internationally. Your focus will be on handling transactions of all sizes, building strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and mills, and ensuring smooth and cost-effective operations. This role offers the unique opportunity to work independently, with the potential to keep 100% of the revenue you generate, complemented by a competitive bonus structure that rewards high transaction volumes.

While this is a temporary contract, we’re open to discussing your needs and how we might collaborate further beyond this initial period.

Responsibilities

• Source and Purchase: Identify and acquire scrap metal from suppliers across the U.S., securing competitive prices.
• Supply Management: Ensure a steady and reliable supply of scrap metal, optimizing value in each transaction.
• Volume Flexibility: Manage transactions of all sizes, from small to large volumes.
• Logistics Coordination: Oversee the logistics of material transport, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery within the U.S. and internationally.
• Trading Operations: Handle the full trading process, including forming relationships and managing transaction lifecycles.
• Risk Management: Mitigate risks in trading operations, including international dealings and letters of credit.
• Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and mills.
• Independent Operations: Operate autonomously while aligning with overall business goals.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in scrap metal trading with a proven track record.
• Industry Knowledge: Expertise in commodity markets, logistics, and risk management.
• Volume Management: Ability to handle both small and large transactions efficiently.
• Relationship Skills: Strong ability to build and maintain key industry relationships.
• Self-Starter: Independent, motivated, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
